Consignment vs. Thrift

What exactly is consignment? Why consign? Over the years, we have surveyed brides and 90% of the them believed the word meant used. At Urban Bride Inc, 80% of our consignment products are consigned directly from bridal boutiques. In all actuality consignment means third party owned it doesn't have to be a used product. Some overstock consignment is not even put on a sales floor before it arrives at our store.

Based on Shopify definition "Consignment is a business arrangement in which a business, also referred to as a consignee, agrees to pay a seller, or consignor, for merchandise after the item sells. Consignment businesses are typically retail stores that specialize in a particular type of consumer product. The business accepts items for sale and agrees to pay the seller a percentage of the proceeds if and when the good

s do sell. Each retailer determines their own pricing arrangement, but the typical split between the business and the individual seller ranges from 50/50 to 40/60 or 60/40. Who gets the bulk of the proceeds often depends on how established and successful the store is."

Urban Bride Inc has been consigning dresses and other bridal products since 2008 and have successfully recouped hundreds of thousands to business owners and individuals who took advantage of our consignment program.
